Adoption Application

Our Adoption Process

Thank you for interest is adoption one of our adorable peks!

Everyone involved with Potomac Valley Pekingese Club, Inc., PVPC, is a VOLUNTEER. We have no paid positions. We work as quickly as is feasible. We do require use of monthly heartworm preventative, current Vet visits, and we prefer a fenced yard and homes with children over the age of 8.

1. Complete an adoption application (see below) using a computer or tablet.

2. A Vet check will be completed by a member of the Rescue Committee.

3. Following a good Vet check you will be contacted regarding available pekes that may be wonderful for your home. A home visit will then be arranged between you and a volunteer.

4. You may request a specific peke; however, we have a list of approved applicants. We try to match the best peke with an applicant therefore, it is not a first come, first serve process. Our hope is that such matching results in the happiest life for you and the peke. Know that in the process of fostering we have fallen in love with “your” peke, too.

Before you meet your peke we have fully vetted them. Examples are physical exams, blood work to include heart worm test, vaccinations, microchip, dentals (if needed), vision, hearing, mobility, skin, etc.. Referral to specialists may be made. All are spayed/neutered if medically cleared to handle anesthesia. The adopter is provided all the information we have.

When a peke is being transferred to your care, you need to complete an Adoption Contract and pay the necessary (suggested) adoption fee. These suggested fees allow us to continue our work.

Adoption fees:

Puppies:   $500

Young:      $450

Adult        $400

Seniors     $350

Special Needs :  $200 or a case by case by Rescue Committee Decision

Please read “Our Adoption process” found under Pekes for Adoption.

Please read the following before signing/submitting: Unless otherwise stated prior to the adoption, the Pekingese you may adopt from PVPC, INC., will be medically current on all routine inoculations and heartworm medication. PVPC’s objective is to ensure that all Pekingese offered for adoption are healthy and disease-free.  To that end, PVPC has paid for all medical procedures necessary to address a specific medical condition.  Applicants release the PVPC to confirm the validity of the information provided herein, including contacting the veterinarian listed and by having a satisfactory in-house visit. Applicants understand and agree that PVPC reserves the right to refuse any applicant and agree to hold harmless the PVPC officers and members if their application for adoption is refused.
